Fundraising Cause:
The New London County CT Professionals Chapter of Engineers
Without Borders is seeking funding in support of our chapter's international project. We are working with local farming communities in San Ramon, Nicaragua, to implement rainwater recycling systems and microdams. These communities have reached out to ask for help. Our response is a five-year committment to implement sustainable engineering projects that meet their basic human needs.
The rainwater recycling and microdam project will directly benefit at least 200 families (a family consisting of three or more members), allowing them to bolster their farming community, which is the key livelihood for the region. Indirectly, we will benefit more than 1200 people.
Our chapter, comprising volunteers from around New London County, will work with the community to implement a mode of sustainably farming. This will allow them to maintain a basic standard of living for the community’s families. Indirectly, through education of the community’s farmers and families our expectation is for the neighboring communities to adopt the philosophies of rainwater collection as well.
Silent Auction, Raffle, and Donation Details:
Our goal for this fundraising effort is to raise $10,000 which will allow the volunteers to perform assessments in the communities, perform all planning for the implementation of the systems, and initiate the execution.
